Hi
Can you take a look over my new spec. I think i have things covered but would like any input you could advise....

Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Gun Metal Black)
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
Saitek Eclipse 2 Illuminated Keyboard - Blue/Red/Purple
Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink
Akasa 8-Pin 30cm PSU Extension Cable
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - 1Pk (66R-00838)
Razer DeathAdder Blue 2000dpi High Precision Gaming Mouse - Retail
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
OcUK 4GB (4x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit
Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Samsung SH-S203BEBN 20x20 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
BenQ FP241W 24" Widescreen HDMI/HDCP LCD HD Monitor - Silver/Black
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music 7.1 Soundcard - OEM
2 x Yate Loon 120mm - D12SM-12
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

I read I'll have to remove the middle HDD cage on the Antec case to get the GTX in and put the hard drive in the bottom bay to catch some cooling from the front fan. Also the Corsair 8 pin cable will not reach in the case so an extension is needed. I need to make sure the BenQ FP241W has the latest firmware to allow the 1:1 scalling and i decided on the Noctua NH-U12F as although the Thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme is better i don't want to mess around lapping it considering the price. I went for the BFG over the OcUK version as I want to be able to sell it if the G92 proves to be as fast as speculated and the BFG hass lifetime warranty and is already overclocked. The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music over the gamer version due to better caps and gold conectors and the Corsair HX 620W to have some reserve power for the future and overclocking.

Anyway thats my reasonings i hope they are not too flawed?

No that actually looks pretty damn good.

The only other thing I'd get would be a second DVD drive, 'cos they're cheap and in case there's ever a problem with one.

I'm not sure if you really need PC8500 Ram here but other than that it looks like a good specification overall. Will you be using all the features of Vista Ultimate? If not you could save £50 or so there. :)

Thank Rezident, semi-pro waster! I think i'll be ok with one drive at the moment but thanks prices are cheap for drives ATM. The 8500 RAM is also so cheap that I felt it was worth going for for plenty of headroom for overclocking but yes slightly a bit overkill. Your Vista comment is well made. I'd always thought the Ultimate was the one to go for for gaming. If its just remote networking and past directory compatability it would be nice but not worth £50. I'll have a closer look into that thanks :)

Hi Green_Giant, The cable extension is really only if you want to use the tidy cable solution with the case, around the back and over the top. I got the info from page 8 of the n exus.net review of the p182 using the Corsair HX620 ...

"The other main improvement to the P182 is the provision of cable-routing holes. You can see three holes cut out of the motherboard back plate. Two are up top and one lines up nicely with where the motherboard's 24-pin PSU socket will be.
While these little tweaks worked really well and made building the system a breeze, we did find that the cable for the eight-pin connector on our Corsair HX620 power supply was about 5cm too short to reach round the back and over the top.
As a result, our system was a little less tidy than it might have been - one solitary cable having to run entirely on the working side of the P182.
We're not sure whether the same problem is likely to arise with most other power supplies but Antec will know that better than us. If the problem is going to be common, then the company could, perhaps, consider including in-pack a shortish extension lead to help keep things ultra-tidy. "

Not essential but id like to keep things as clear as possible for cooling :)
