ok so my current computer is about 6 years old with a AMD sempron 2600 (socket A) which supprisingly runs most games on low settings. i think its about time to get a whole new gaming system up and running. i want to be able to play all the latest games on the highest settings possible for about £600.

my moniter is a acer al1916w 19" widescreen with a 1440x900 res so i should be able to run nearly all todays games on max settings.

I already have a Intel Q6600 and a 320gb seagate hdd

this is what i will be ordering on monday if everyone thinks this is good.

XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) + Company of Heroes Bundle - Retail £183.99

DFI Lan Party DK P45-T2RS Plus Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £126.49

Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant Power Supply £79.34

Coolermaster CM-690 Dominator Case - Black (No PSU) £64.39

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB) £45.99

Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775) £34.49

Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.09

Zalman ZM-F3 120mm Silent Case Fan - 3 Pin £6.89 X 5 = £34.45

Akasa AK-TK-01 Cable Tidy Kit £4.59

Akasa Fan Filter - 120mm £3.44 X 3 = £10.32

TOTAL = £602.06

im hoping the H/S will fit in the case ok. i will be overclocking so i will put 2 fans on it and the other 3 around the case to help ventilation along with the 3 included ones.

i just hope that everythng is in stock when i order it haha. im hoping to have everything by the end of next week so i can spend the weekend building it.

anyone got any suggestions or comments?

Cheers in advance
Rich

are you planning on getting a new monitor that support 1920x1200 res or thereabouts?
how long are you planning on keeping this pc?

if you're not thinking of upgrading the monitor to 22/24" then i'd go with the 512mb version of the gfx card.

i'd either replace the case fans or not order the other fans for the case, intake/rear and top fan should be more than enough to cool the system.

The cooler-master 690 has intake filters, so there's probably not much need for more unless you're running strange combinations.

Apart from that it looks great :-)

cheers for the replies.
i am hoping to get a bigger moniter when i have enough money, im thinking a 24"/26" will look good on my desk :)
i dont know how long i will keep it for most probably until it starts to struggle running the new games. im hoping to keep it a minimum of 2-3 years with the odd upgarde here and there.
i will scrap the filters then but i still want 2 fans on the heatsink and one on the side to help cool the graphics card.

cheers :)
