Morning

I posted this in the monitors section yesterday but had no replies as yet so thought i would paste it here as I'm after help with a PC build as well.

Basically £1300 for the tower, i have no clue about building my own computer but from reading a few posts it looks like I'm going to have to man up and look into it.

PC will be used for gaming pretty much. I have copied my post below from the Monitor forum to tie in with this. Thanks

***Been looking at your forums for the last few weeks now and thought i would get involved as i'm looking to come back to PC gaming

Had one nearly 7 years ago on a old Dell PC to play Landwarrior / Joint Ops which was basic gaming.

I'm still stuck in respect to a gaming rig but i will be posting this in the build forum later.

In regards to budget i'm looking around £1300 for the tower and anywhere up to £300 for a monitor.

I'm happy to take the hit now so i can have something that will last me for a good few years.

Back on topic for a monitor. I was browsing and saw a few on the weekly deals and thought it would be good to get it now when cheap and get my tower later.

I've seen

Few questions as i'm a newb for tech etc

Which one is better? or can you recommend a better one in the same price bracket?

And what is the best monitor size for gaming? 24" or 27"

Hopefully your responses will point me in the right direction.

Thanks

This would be a great start. Gives you the opportunity to learn to overclock too, which is dead easy. Plenty of assistance on the forum too :)

The links you've provided are not valid, they appear to have been moved.

In regards to gaming on 24"/27", it's your preference. How close to the monitor will you be? 24" is regarded as a happy medium, but ultimately, the choice is yours.

It may also be worth mentioning that people have reported issues with their eyes when it came to using a 120/144hz monitor at 27". Some even sold theirs. Not saying it's going to happen, but be aware it may not be what you expect.

Tamzzy, that is almost £400 over budget ;)

the m500 isn't *that* bad, and besides, at <50p per gb, its a steal

hmmm.....at 250mb write though, personally not convinced! Doesn't mean it's not a steal though!

@OP - What kind of games are you going to be playing?

Will that gfx card the same level as the GTX 780?

£1300 for just the tower ......... would you maybe consider spending a little bit more and get a themed machine other wise known as an Ethermaster or Doomedspeed special?
