Hi all,

This will be my first build in about 4 years ( had imacs ) but now i want a good spec gaming PC so have spent some time researching and brushing up on whats what and think i have a system to build. Just wanted to check with some more knowledgeable people on any possible problems or upgrades/downgrades etc :)

Specs are
Super Nova X79 800i Intel Core i7 3820 3.60GHz @ 4.40GHz DDR3 Bundle

My main worrys are is that the best SSD to have? some makes seem to have issues which is a worry as it will be the HD i run windows 7 on and i have a new 1TB harddrive sitting ready. Also as hard as i have looked i cant seem to find if this case will handle a graphics card that is 10.5 inches ( will ring OC on tuesday to ask ) and is the graphics card worth the £350 price tag?

The other thing is do i also have to buy a power cord? and as its a new build will i be able to use the HDMI cable straight away so i can install windows or will i need a monitor with a standard connection?

Sorry for the newbie questions but 4 years out of the building/upgrading world seems a long time :D

thanks

if its mainly gaming then the 2011 i7 build is very overkill, a 3570k based build will give better bang for buck as the games will not utilize the extra power.

as for the GPU its worth the money if you are going to push it to its limits by running high res monitors or multi monitor setups, 1 1080P monitor would be within the abilities of a 7850 .

HDMI for install is fine and if i'm not mistaken the PSU has to come with a power lead by law, again its overkill unless you plan to SLI at a later date 500w will do a corsair builder sires would do nicely.

Best advice i can give s to define its use and budget as fully as possible including if you need monitor keyboard mouse OS then start a new thread stating

"i want to be able to do this .... i have this many pennies and i either do or dont need OS, keyboard mouse monitor"

People on this forum are very good at specing but you need to be specific if you want solid advice.

Eg. "I want to play BF3 on 5760 x 1080 (3 1080p monitors) at ultra settings and i have £2k to spend, i have the monitor keyboard and mouse and OS"
