Hi there,

I am currently looking for a new gaming pc that should run Crysis and other dx10 games well.

I have been reading the forums for around a week now and have put together the following spec from what i have learnt.

I am still undecided for a suitable case, but obviously it has to cater for a 8800gtx if i get one now or in a few months time, and I would like it to have a clear side window :D

things in bold are what i have my mind set on getting :) i could be persuaded to spend up to £1600. i will have a go at overclocking a little but nothing major.

will be using this for games and to connect my decks too as well

CASE ??? black with a clear side panel
PSU ??? something over 600w?
MOBO ???
CPU Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4ghz
RAM GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz
HDD Western Digital Caviar 250GB
DVD Liteon DVD
GFX ??? maybe a 7900gt until 8800gtx is better value for money?
SOUND Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Soundcard
KEYBOARD/MOUSE Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3000
SPEAKERS Logitech Z-5450 THX Digital 5.1 Speaker System
TFT Viewsonic VX922 19"
FLOPPY Sony Floppy Drive
COOLER ???

anybody got any suggestions?

600W PSU should be fine if you are not planning to SLi 8800GTX, some of the good ones are Seasonic M12 600W, Corsair 620HX, OCZ gamers extreme 600W, and Tagan, too.

I'd suggest an ASUS P5W DH or a P5B-Deluxe for the mobo.

7900GT is fine or u can consider 1900XT or a 1950Pro.

For CPU cooler Freezer 7 Pro, Ninja, and Tuniq Tower are all good.

Not sure about the case though, maybe an Antec Nine Hundred??

Make sure you get a case with a lot of room as the 8800GTX is a big card, as mentioned above, the Antec Nine Hundred seems to be a popular choice to couple with your system. I also agree about the CPU coolers as those 3 seem to be the best and most popular. if you aren't going to get an 8800GTX yet, then perhaps get the 7900GT or something similar as you have chosen a 19" monitor, and really a card such as this should be able to run games on max no problem ( but don't quote me on this). As for your DVD-writer, I would say perhaps get a Pioneer as they are very good drives. PSU either Corsair, Tagan, OCZ are good ones. Hope this helps
