HI,

I have a 3 year old AMD pc and have stopped playing games in the main.

Now I am starting with video editing and need a faster pc.

Current spec:

AMD Athlon X2 640 3.0GHZ
Asroc 890GM M3
2 x 4gb DDR2 1333
GTX 470 1280
Ezcool PSI-800INF
Power Cooller Master Ful Size Case

I want a SSD too. I guess I need the I7-4770 and a new Mobo. I am running Win 8.1 64.

Can I use the case, Psu and Gpu to save money?

Thanks,

Weclome.

Well, for video editing the AMD 83**'s are very good for the money.

I would also replace you PSU, as it is (well, there no politer way of putting it) Junk.

I would also get a cpu cooler for the 8320 but i need to know if your cas ewill fit it first.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £107.99
1 x Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
1 x Plextor M5S 128GB Solid State Drive - (PX-128M5S) £71.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £59.99
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 412S CPU Cooler £28.99
Total : £358.55 (includes shipping : £8.00).

If all I am going to salvage is the case then I may as well go for the case too.

Looks are not improtant. I do not want to o/c it and its under a desk so I do not need colour co-ordinated components.(whatever is cheapest)

Come on then, whats the damamge on an I7 4770, Cooler, Mobo, Case, 250G SSD, Gpu (be gentle. Odd games and video), 16Gb Ram... Lets go for £1000

Cheers,

I have tried to spec it myself (Randomly picking lower cost componentes) but it is a nightmare making sure it all plays with each other and fits in the case???

The CPU is OEM so is a good price - hopefully stock will arrive shortly, also the after market cooler will keep the machine quieter than the stock heastsink if you did buy retail (OEM is not supplied with one)

the motherboard and psu will come with cables required.

You definitely won't be overclocking this (locked chip, H87 motherboard) and you won't be able to add more RAM - but you do get a 280X in there. The CPU cooler is nice and quiet, and the case should be too.

I want to get the cost as low as possible but want a dabble at o/c a little later on.

So, what could I chnage here please? (Ram timing, cooler, mobo?)

Spec me happy!

Yes and I have not herd of any CPU cooler limitations on the Corsair 200R bar the dual rad all in one water coolers.
