New gaming & VM build

Hi all,

I'm looking to pull the trigger on a new gaming/vm workstation. Does anyone have any concerns with the below?


Intel Core i7-6800K
G.Skill TridentZ Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass ATX Mid Tower Case
Zotac GeForce GTX 1080 8GB AMP! Extreme Video Card
EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Samsung 950 PRO NVMe M.2 256 GB
Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TBGB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 27.0" 165Hz Monitor

I'm not sure about the motherboard - does anyone have any recommendations? I was looking at (assuming they will take nvme/pcie?):

MSI X99A Gaming 7 USB 3.1 Motherboard
MSI X99A SLI KRAIT EDITION ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard
Asus ROG STRIX Intel X99 RGB LED GAMING ATX Motherboard
MSI X99A SLI PLUS Haswell Extreme USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard

Likewise I'm not sure which CPU cooler to go with but was thinking of:
Corsair H110 94.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Hi

All those boards will take an M.2 SSD. I would probably go with one of the newer Corsair coolers such as the H110i GT/GTX or H115i etc.

You might need a bios update with some of those boards for the i7 6800K to work out of the box. Not 100% sure on that, so maybe ask the store before you order.
