I was I thought myself and Efour were doing a good job of counter-trolling
Specs are the best hob money can buy for around £200 and the measurements are 580x500mm and finished in Black if possible, stainless steel second and white third, as a preference.
actually deviating the thread somewhat but I'm just reading up on Induction Hobs and wondering whether to get one of them instead - sounds like the only thing putting me off is that some may scratch easily. Not sure about the economics though - they say electric hobs are more expensive than gas when cooking but induction hobs negate this by turning on and off and getting up to temp much faster perhaps?
Induction is great, also very safe (unless you wear a pacemaker) and very efficient. Well worth a look and surprising durable. You will need to spend double your budget AND make sure your electrics are up to scratch. I'd ignore the 13a induction hobs as those will run one ring at full power or all 4 at 25%
