Recently bought a GTX460 from the MM to replace my very old 8800GTS. Installed and booted up fine, however after installing numerous drivers i just can't get any resolution above 1024x768 via DVI with some seriously wacked out refresh rates. Up to 200hz!. I've removed the drivers correctly and installed by ticking 'clean install'.

Done a few google searches with a few results.

e.g

Every results seems to point towards defective EDID on the monitor.

Now i didn't have issues with my 8800GTS, but all problems i've read via google show it's people with newer cards.

Connected via VGA at the moment with all capable resolutions and refresh rates available. Even played BC2 last night for a few hours without any issues.

Any ideas? Is this EDID thing fixable? Or should i be looking at a new monitor sometime soon?

Pain in the ass, but sounds like before you swap anything out, you need a 2nd monitor to test the card on and see if it pumps out the right res via DVI then you know for sure its your monitor.

If it is.. this linky looks somewhat useful, hope it helps.

Will take a look at that shortly. Thanks.

I've already had that issue. It was a few years ago now. Unplugged my monitor one day and then couldn't get a DVI signal when i hooked everything back up.

This however is slightly different. It's almost as if the resolution info isn't getting passed on by my monitor so my gfx card doesn't know what it can display.

My 2025wm is getting a little long in the tooth now, so it might just be an good excuse for an upgade.

Don't have any other monitors to test on, just a couple of HDTV's (1080p and 720p) that might be an issue getting my PC near them. But i'll try tomorrow.
