New GFX card so new CPU as well?

Currently got a 3600 in a B450 tommahawk max b450 board.

Currently deciding between a 3070 or 3080 GPU but will the 3600 be a bottleneck @ 1440p? I did for a short time have a 3070ti in that i was testing for my dad and in the few games i tested i saw quite low CPU and GPU usage. Could that have been the 3600 bottlenecking?

If i do upgrade should i get a 5600 or 5600X or go for the 5700X. Im assuming they will work fine on my B450 board as it was considered one of the better B450 boards when i got it.

I don't think a 3070 will be that badly bottlenecked at 1440p on a 3600. Not enough to warrant the expense of a Zen3 chip anyway.

Nah reckon you'll be fine with a 3600. I mean a 5600X isn;t hugely expensive but I don't believe your usage should be that low on both in game. Something else is causing this, not a bottleneck.

You will probably need to update the BIOS. But I'm not sure that you will see a significant benefit from an upgrade to either 5600.The 5700 will come into its own with games that use that many cores, but do you play any?

Mainly fortnite and warzone with the kids

Those games are more CPU bound so upgrading from the 3600 to 5600/5700X will see a good boost. I would say the 5700X will be worth more and last longer if you can upgrade to that.

However since it's mainly those two games I would wait and see if the current 3600 feels comfortable enough when the new GPU arrives before making any decisions.
