Hi,
I currentley have a X800GTO which i great. But i find it is ageing a bit. I have looked around the web site and found two or three cards im intrested in. First is the X1950XT 256MB Sapphire card. And secondley the Power colour X1950Pro 512MB. But are around the same price mark but which one will perform better. I game at a max res of 1024x1280 and maybe a bit high rarley once i get my new samsung 32" HDTV for my lounge. But main res will be 1024x1280. So which one will perform better. What about the 7950GT 512MB what is that like. Although i hear ATI can handle HDR and AA better than nvidia. I have looked at going down the 8800 route. But reading reviews of these cards and compoaring them to the 8800GTS there no point getting the 8800 performance wise theres a 25% boost i would say. And as i play at low res it could be a over kill. And it would be out of date by the time DX10 games start properly coming out. Well decent ones anyway. And im not one to go for newer games lol.. but im still unshure of what to go for..

Thanks in advance.

Your system would be wasted at that resolution. Do you have a 15" TFT?

If so spend your money on a new larger TFT which will be a better upgrade overall.

If you have to chose one of those cards now, the X1950XT 256MB is the quickest

The OP says his monitor is 1024 x 1280, which is 19" or 17" on a tft monitor, he just says it backwards

Heh maybe i could keep the X800 till next year until i get vista... if i bother. But wouldnt the X1950Xt bring more over all performance to games when running on highest settings ect. Chances are i will be upgrading around this time next year. But i am hoping to get a new graphics card. So i can run all my games on Highest settings ect.

Artic Cooling Accelero X2 Cooler (X1800/X1900 Series) Will that work on the X1950XT ? Whats the stock fan like. Loud or quiet ?

I'm not sure about the cooler, why not something like a zalman cf-900, and yes the card would give you good performance,or you could save some cash and get the 256mb x1900xt, this would give you more than enough performance and have some cash left over for a bigger monitor.

Are 19" too small for this GFX cards pottential. I thought they were big enough. I have two of the same monitor you see .

Nope, are you saying you are going to be running a dual screen setup?, the x1950 will cut through anything to come until the end of dx9's usefullness.

Umm well i dont run dual screen i run one monitor on each pc. Although i tried dual screen once and when playing games the lag on them was really bad. Im not shure weather it was the graphics card. Although both screens have a 12MS refresh rate. And my GFX card has one VGA port and on DVI port. And my screen are VGA i was using a converter. Any chance the X1950XT would stop the lag ect.

If you are only running 1280*1024 reslotuion and no higher, a x1900xt 256mb would be suffice, will run it at that resolution with all games on max, plus you would save some money.

X1950Pro Power colour model. It has a decent cooler. Its 256MB and i doubt i will change my screens this year so will it still run all latest games high settings at 1024x1280 and get decent FPS ?

That review has made me want the X1950XT agen lol... the XT worth the extra £30 ?

EDIT - ooops they are comapring X1900 lol. Think its the power colour X1950Pro for me. Has a accelro style cooler fitted so should be silent and a good overclocker!
