New GFX Card

the 2900xt is a good card, are you looking to replace it,

Where in your opinion is it restricting your choice of playable games.

I ask as i am currently looking to move over from AGP to pcie and have a small tight budget to do so.

thanks

Bowza

Only said about the 3850 as a stop gap to keep you going till the new cards come out. If you can then yes, go for the GT.

If someone had to invest in a gfx card today what would be the best purchase to make?

What resolution and games? At 1280x1024 the 8800gt is the best bang for your buck right now, but if you are gaming at 1920x1200, OCUK's £165 8800GTX is a better investment.

Bear in mind that ATi's new cards are looking to be 40-50% faster than a GTX and should launch at below £200 this month

Indeed, the prices hikes on the GTX's have made me start looking at other cards, and if the new ATI cards will do what Zarf sayas then I'm going to hang on awhile
