New Girl

/\ Definately not the target audience for this show. But each to their own....

Brits seem to lean more towards NYC based US sitcoms & TV, rather then LA. I guess it's just (literally and figuratively) "a bit closer to home".
 
I've watched a few episodes but can't truly get on board with it. I think it's mainly because in Jess they've created a character so likeably quirky that it makes the fact that she's perpetually single somewhat unbelievable.

She's barely single at all... I forget some of their names off the top of my head, but in the begininng of season 1 she had just split up with Spencer (after being with him for 6 years), and during the first half of season 1 she was dating the nerdy guy, and in the second half she is dating the rich older guy.

The plot, we can talk about the show airing though, and a heads up doesn't go-amiss. I think it's actually airing right now!

I started watching it purely for Zooey, this was about halfway through the season so I ended up watching half the first season in a couple of days which filled my dreams with scenarios of living with Zooey which made me a much more likeable person through the day. Weird how dreams affect the subconscious, if I do the same with Breaking Bad I get called angry a lot lol.

I too started watching it for Zooey then stayed for Cece :D

This show simply didn't need another camp/gay stereotype, it's boring and used in so many other current sitcoms. The focus groups obviously came to the same conclusion and so they replaced him with a straight black guy. I nearly gave up on the show because of him, fortunately he was canned by the second episode.

lol no

the coach guy was in two pilots for two different programs at the same time
the other series got a full series before new girl so he went to do that show instead
