new GPU and PSU needed

Am looking to replace some parts in my partners pc and am not sure on what to get as i run high end stuff.

Pc at the mo is
AMD 6400 X2 running stock. Mobo doesnt have overclock settings.
ATI X1800
Cheap 500w psu.

Am looking to replace the PSU/GPU for some thing what will last untill the cpu starts to struggle.
She plays games like sims running on a 1280/1024 monitor

Assuming its pci-e you could look at a half gig 4850 should more than meet her needs, the corsair cx400 is good quality budget psu
