New GPU arrived - Covered in scratches ?

I just received my Palit GTX 1080 Jetstream which I bought in that sale the other day.

It arrived and the packaging, while very dusty, seemed to be sealed like new.

On taking the card out however, the silver metal of the outside was absolutely covered in scratches. Fairly thick ones too.

Whats the deal? A brand new GPU shouldn't come like this surely?

That looks like protective film you haven't removed.

The film was still on there.

In my defence, that's the most well hidden and blended in plastic trim I've ever seen!

We've all done it, some of us (me) have left plastic face protectors on waterblocks that DO have a red REMOVE on them

While we're all here having lols, does anyone else have to strongly resist the urge and sometimes fail when round someone else house to not remove film left on electrical items?
