New GPU client core for Nvidia cards. Higher ppd.

Noob question - do I install CUDA drivers on their own or plus the usual geforce one. Does it matter what order I install if I have to use both.

The current Nvidia driver are CUDA drivers so there's nothing else to install (unless I've really misunderstood things!).
You shouldn't see anything about checkpoints unless the frame time is longer than the checkpoint time (apart from some of the standard WUs that seem to save checkpoint data every few frames). Effectively, each frame completion is a checkpoint. It's worth setting -verbosity 9 in the shortcut if you haven't already to get all the info that's available.

Thanks guys - puts my mind to rest a little. Slightly annoying that the newer core causes instability in my stock clocked card (!), but at least they seem to give credit fairly for the ones that fail.

EDIT: The wiki now lists core 1.17 for nvidia GPUs, with a fix to help stop EUEs caused by a diagnostic output. I wonder when this will be released properly?

Just had another EEU.
Still new to Vista Mr Snapshot so haven't been brave enough to tamper with the shortcut, maybe this weekend as I don't want to stop it running on start up. I know I have to put it in the start up folder.

If you're using the GUI version then you can add the arguments on the Advanced tab of the configuration page. Right-click the system tray icon and select "Configure..." then on the "Advanced" tab stick the following in the "Additional Client Parameters" box

-verbosity 9 -advmethods -forceasm

you will have to restart the client for them to take effect

Vista, shmista. It's just a shortcut, same as in XP.

I'm getting nothing but EUE's now. I've tried deleting the core, work folder, etc. but it made no difference. I've closed the client for a while and will try again later.

I must be lucky its been stable as a rock on my 8800GS running 1.15
On the 3850 I'm running 1.18 and not getting any EUE's on that either.

Thanks for that Rich:) Amazing what you find when you read to the bottom of the screen. Done it & it seems to be working, however FAH site & EOC saying no WU since 2-37 UTC. Lost the log on restart but I'm sure I should've had another 2 since then:confused:
Using Riva tuner to up my fan speed has dropped temp by 12C & that should help things be a bit more stable?
1.18:confused: I've only just found out about 1.17 but running with 1.15. Just had an EEU @ 80%:(

I checked the folding forum last night, and it seems as though they are not going to issue the 1.16 core due to EUE problems, and are instead working on releasing the 1.17 core - hopefully sharpish!

Just tried to get a new core. Renamed 1 I had to old & it still downloaded 1.11 which I already had:confused: Should I try just deleting core once next WU is finished?

Well, after the WU finished I closed down & deleted the core. Had to reboot after a windows update & FAH d/ls core 1.11 again:(
I've configure it to get >10MB wu's & getting a steady stream of 55xx for 480 points.
Any suggestions how I can get a newer core? Is 1.18 coming out?
