so just got new gpu, a 270x. psu is only a 430 so was aware it its more or less making it out. so to test it would be okay i loaded furmark and maxed the gpu and the cpu. it seemed to all run fine.

just there i was testing ifinite crisis and comp suddely powered off. no nice shutdown no beep just off.

i had thought it could be the cpu getting too hot with the gpu now pumping loads of heat out in te the case, was a fair warm droft coming from the top of the case. is it the psu strugling to power it all and keeling over? is there any good way to check? if it is a real problem then to go 750ti or is there a reasonable psu to go for?

fx6300, is a bit overclocked never had and issue with though.

cpu cooler i cant remember what it is, its not great, meant more for quiet than super cooling so fan on it doesnt get moving fast.

mobo is an asus m5a97 evo r2.0.

case i cant remember (casecom soemthing) either, its nothing fancy. has a great big vented area on the top of it so case on the whole id think should be okay.

oh and psu is a cx430 which reviews seem to say is pretty good but ive seen people say its crap (when bought was never intended to be driving much so didnt matter)

ohh i tihnk that could be it. got v hot v quick.

right looked up the case. it is a Casecom K5-9388

fan wise, hmm i know it has one at the front but im pretty sure from the lack of annoying light that i disconnected it. (the case was rig got to be a home for old bits so its biggest draw was cheap and didnt look hidious.)

i dont think it has any other fans. the top of the case is all vented though so i would have thought the passive ventilation quite good despite not having a fan attached.

i feel im about to get a telling off.

oh and no hasnt shut down again, didnt even pre stocking the cpu, i did frame limit infinite crisis to 60fps though.

fan reconected. cpu currently at 64 but did hit 67 briefly

running slightly cooler but not by a great deal. the burntest did just get a critical error though, which is new.

ran again, doing 10 runs and it worked fine, again just peaking at 67c

yeah im surprised its getting so hot. the cooler isnt very small. but the fan on it, it just doesnt seem to ever go very fast. im wondereing if its changeable. you wouldnt have any idea about that would you?

(also thank you greatly for the assistance)

it would seem the case came with a 140mm fan on the top of the case. have found that and shall install one this podcast is done. i ithkn a little cable management may be in order.

btw there isnt a away to make 4pin molex connectors connect to mobo fan headers and report rpm data is there? the case fans on it are all 4pin fixed speed things.

balls.

just got a bsod with the error, video tdr failure atikmpag.sys

random fluke or is that a sign of the psu struggling? wasnt doing anthyng intensive, just playing a youtube vid.

the case fan is a 4 pin molex connector, you know the old hdd power conector.

also the machine bsod'd again i didnt see what the error was though. could it be a driver issue? i dont think it would have been heat as it was basicaly doing nothig. im kinda thinking maybe it was the psu, but even then it wasnt drawing lots of power as it wasnt doing anything.

Download the latest drivers if you haven't already

Download DDU and extract it a Desktop folder

Unistall the existing Drivers as normal in widows installer, reboot.

Once back into Windows Run DDU as Admin, chose Yes to boot into safe mode, once in safe mode it should run automatically, select AMD from the display driver drop down menu, check all check boxes and click on the top button ladled "Clean and restart"

Once back into Windows install the driver you just downloaded, reboot...

That MAY fix the problem.

errrr well removed the driver fine.

though it wont reinstall. everything installs fine except the actual driver. clearl this is a problem. ive no idea why its not installing, never seen this happen before.

help!

card is seated fine, its outputting picture, i do have the old card.

also i had created o new thried for this http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=26998837&posted=1#post26998837 i presumed this weild driver behaviour isnt psu or anything related.

card wise i have the old 5550 a 4650 here too and the 750ti still sat in its unopened box. as por the other chaps suggestion im going no try the 14.4 driver see it that installs okay.
