Hi All

I just uninstalled amd drivers and than put in a brand new gpu and the pc will not boot so I put back the old card which is 100% work and still wont boot.

I noticed the light for a cpu error is red on my mobo but can not understand why.

All was fine my whole pc before this.

Specs
fx 8350
8gb ram
Sabertooth 990fx r2
1200 watt Psu

Any help would be great.

No replies?

I just put in a new cpu and still the same problem.

Can someone help out please? Is it the mobo? Maybe update bios via a flash or to risky?

Like above all this happened after taking out a old and putting a new gpu card in before this everything was working 100%.

have you tried to clear cmos or the button to boot straight to bios

I tried clearing the cmos yesterday. I have one of those pc component test kits. which showed up as 01 and the manual says something about cpu register inside failed and another part with it saying bios sets each flag and turns each flag off.

I would strip out of case

place on a none conductive surface, dismantle down to just speaker and power, and start adding components Cpu , single ram module then gpu, dependent on bios beep codes take action as described in manual for motherboard

did you knock the cpu cooler? try loosening it ever so slightly

I think so yesterday though a new cpu was put in today and still a red light error with no post.

There are no beeps when mobo starts up? I remember a person on this forum saying no beeps then the mobo is dead??

checked for bent cpu socket pins? be carefull not to touch or damage any

its all I can think of,its halting at a cpu/detection error that's why the cpu led light is staying lit

No bent pins. I have a spare mobo to try, I'm not looking forward to the stress though.

Here is a list of things I've tried..

Flashed the bios.
Removed all components one by one.
Replaced with brand new Cpu.
Tried DP & HDMI leads.
Put old working and new gpu in with no luck.
Tighten and loosen cpu fan screws.
Put cpu header in mobo and fan controller.
No beeps at all.

Is there anything else to try?

All of this happened just by turning off my pc and putting in a new gpu.
Is this possible?

The only way to know is to test with spare MB

I've had CPU led come on before and it was either too tight a cooler or bent pins

Something could have been knocked or something shorted when you installed new GPU idk

do you have some older CPU as Phenom II or your friend? Try if with some Phenom II or Athlon II will be PC working.

My gut feeling says I am with Wazza on this one. Either shorted something when installing gpu, heat sink too tight, or bent pins. Best bet after checking above is to do barebones setup on bench as suggested above until you find the culprit. Other than that, maybe you have just been unlucky and co incidentally the cpu has died? Check cpu in a known working board? Worth checking ram also. Try removing bios battery for 30 mins and then replace and try it then. Just to rule out - try another power supply, as it may not be fully working. Other than that I am out of ideas until you have tried all these other ideas. Good luck.

Its not the BIOS, i have a Rev 1 Sabertooth 990FX and an FX-9590, the last BIOS for that board is 1604, the 9590 isn't even listed in the CPU compatibility, the earliest BIOS for the R2 is newer than mine. My GPU is an R9 290.

Its possible the you broke something on the board installing the new GPU, these Sambertooth boards are pretty long lived, mine is 4 or 5 years old, its been running 16 hours a day with overclocked components everyday and it still works exactly as it did when it was new, they have a 5 year warranty, they don't just fail on their own accord unless there is a manufacturing fault, you get what you pay for :)

Do as has been suggested, start bare bone and test with each component added, also take the board out and have a very close look at it, look for cracks and burns.
