New gpu for 1080 gaming?

what is the best bang for buck gpu for 1080p gaming.
most upto date game the boy plays is bf4, but he wants fallout4 and current gpu is not upto job.

youll be looking at the gtx 970 or the r9 390 it really depends if you have a preference

on the comparison videos ive watched the 970 does have the edge in current games over the 390 but the 390 does have more vram so they say its more future proof..

I went for the 970 but then I got offered a 2nd hand one at a decent price

Not much been said about that card yet. are they any good do they clock like the 280x's did?

Jayztwocent just did a video on his youtube channel comparing the latest 380x he was sent. Take a look at that for a reviews and benchmarks etc.

I assume your current 290 is dead? as that would be perfect for 1080p.

You've got mm access. So maybe go second hand, better bang for buck. As above you could go 970/390 or even a 780ti. That'd be a much better card but less VRAM so might not last as long but at 1080 I doubt you'd have issues anytime soon.

You might be able to snag a 390 at that price, if not then the 970 is a solid option.
