New GPU for a Dell XPS 720!

I know...I know...but its not for me, but for a friend. Honest.

The XPS is currently fitted with a 8800gtx in it and he has no budget to upgrade the whole thing.

Is it worth him even considering a gpu upgrade to attempt to play the newer games out over the next month?

He is looking at gtx560 and then an upgrade early 2012.

Thoughts?

Don't get the standard GTX560 but go for the GTX560Ti if he can stretch a bit more. Otherwise a 6870 would be good.

Just ordered a 560ti. For exact same reasons. It will keep me gaming with high settings in all the new games coming out well into next year. Then upgrade to the new 7xxx/6xx series cards if I see fit
