Hello,

In need of some GPU advice for a friend. He has an old PC now:

Intel 2.66GHz Prescott dual core
3GB DDR2 ram
8500GT
FSP 350w PSU.

He tells me his performance in guildwars is quite stuttery and low fps. I was wondering what would be a reasonable GPU upgrade taking in to account the rest of the PC. He has about £100 to spend, I was thinking maybe a GT640 but not quite sure if that is the best bang for buck?

Any help appreciated!

7770 and overclock it, my friend installed one in an old dual core Athlon Dell and overclocked to 1200mhz stable, he gets reasonable fps in games such as Arma 2.

Thanks for the replies. The 6850/70 look more expensive than the 7770? I am a bit concerned with his PSU though, what is the power consumption for the 7770? I know the 7750 is 55w.

Is it worth putting money into this build?

I personally would look at selling existing components for anything you can get and start again if at all possible.

Believe me, I have already tried to convince him to buy a new system but he wont have it.

I think I will recommend a 7750 to him, thanks to all for your replies.

Blimey, the 1200 core seems to be the golden number on all the 7xxx chips. :D:cool:
