New GPU For BF4

Hey

Downloaded BF4 beta and enjoying it. My only problem is my HD 6950 2gb does not cope at all with bf4 on ultra. Getting a avg 25fps at 1920x1080p everthing on ultra running my 2500k at a toasty 4.6ghz. My Cpu usage is sat around 70-80% when playing but my GPU usage is showing 99% at all times while playing does this sound right ? wounder if some could explain how bottleneck works ? Looking to either wait for the 280x toxic or maybe the 290 what you guys think currently on a max buddget of £300

You think its worth while upgradeing my GPU and anything else?

I have the same CPU at 4.6Ghz and I don't think it goes above 80% CPU load with a 7950 on 1080p. I'll check for you tonight. I only get 50-65 FPS at 1080 Ghz on the 7950. Even then it dips into low 40 if there is lots of smoke.

Basically I don't think you have a CPU bottleneck, just a GPU that needs updating !!!!

Rember this is based on the Beta, so expect the full game to play better. A Saphire toxic seems to be a good choice, that said an ASUs 7970 can be overclocked to that power and they were on special for £260 delivered http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-273-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=938

Im in the same situation and have pretty much the same spec as you except i currently have a 570 GTX which hits the 1.25gb memory pretty easy on the beta.

Very tempted by the 280x toxic at the minute as i think the 290 will be around the £400 mark and at 1080p im not sure if it will be worth the extra.

Hopefully the benches on the 290s are out soon.
