For a HTPC, I would go for something like this.

Very small and very powerful and uses very little power, heat shouldn't be an issue.

its a fantastic GPU for 1080p and you dont need to spend £400 to get there.

Thanks again for all your comments. To complete this thread, I went with a KFA2 GeForce GTX 1070 "Reference Blower" on offer at £359.99. Overall, seems a great little card. Probably a bit more than needed, but importantly it seems to run cool and quiet and gives me just enough overhead to run everything I have thrown at it so far at absolutely max settings @1080p@60FPS. Would recommend this if anyone has similar requirements and if anyone is interested, can post some pics of it in the rig to show how nice a fit this particular card is.
