Hi all

So I'm looking to get a new GPU and have upto £350 to spend.... What would be peoples choice?

I'm tempted by the dual fan MSI Rx5700 8gb but then also looking at the 2060... I game at 1080p at the moment but may take the step upto 1440p, I'm guessing the 5700 will be a better choice as its 8gb VRAM

Any advice appreciated

5700/xt is a good choice now for 1080p and move upto 1440p gaming if you dont want to wait for the next gen (which may be a very long wait stock wise). Although whats wrong with the 1660 super that should be fine for 1080p ?

I sold the 1660S, it's a great GPU for 1080p for sure just thought I'd beef up my system before going 1440p if I do soon

I went the second hand route with a used rx 580 8gb for £100 (150 new) until new series come out later this year.

Otherwise 1650 super new is £160ish, 1660 super around 220ish

And top choice would be the rx 5700 MSI Gaming x to "flash" to a 5700 xt (safe powertables or more permanent bios flash). Quite easy and saves £100 for a few clicks (:

Depends on what you play & how long you plan to keep it, because a 2060 has the advantage of DX12 Ultimate features. In some games, that advantage is excessive and trounces 5700 completely. Those games are rare though. Going forward they will be more numerous but they might still not be the ones you play. Otherwise, yeah, a 5700 is a better choice generally though I'd warn you that if you're looking at the MSI Mech, it's a piece of junk, badly made & loud & all sorts of problems. Look into it.

Thought I'd update the thread, I went with the MSI RADEON RX 5700 GAMING X 8GB, had to make sure the measurements were OK before ordering didn't want to have to buy another new case or replace the GPU again :p
