new gpu mainly for wow advice please

Yeah FPS struggles sometimes on my system: 4.4Ghz 2600k + 7970. This is rare though, someone mentioned nalak becomes choppy? That's silky smooth on my system. I run in fullscreen window mode too. I also run the 64bit executable. It helps to have wow on SSD, I had it on the mechanical and I would stutter, this does not happen on my SSD.

I wish they'd update the engine so I can put my system to use!

get a 7850 no point getting something that is around the same as what you got, or just buy another 5770 if u wanna save some cash.

trouble is the 7850 is way to much cash at the moment do you not think the 650ti would be an upgrade on the 5770?

not for the price you would pay no, add a little get a lot more, i was going to get a 7770 or a 650 but decided against it because it just simply was not worth it for the performance gain.

You could always replace the cooler on your current card, would be a cheaper option.

The 5770 I can see are about £50-£70 second hand which is why I thought the 650ti was good value at £79.99?
the other cards I can see in this price point are the 7750 and a couple of 7770's and the standard 650

Also, if you ever plan to go multi-monitor with WoW then it has to be nVidia. Ati Eyefinity doesn't work with WoW in fullscreen mode so you have to use windowed-fullscreen which is a big performance loss. Also, you don't have to mess about with DP-DVI adaptors.

AFAIK (unless its been fixed in the last 2-3 months) you also lose crossfire support in window mode which would be a double whammy with eyefinity. On the same note most of the people I know who play WoW play in window mode anyway due to having social/voice comms/companion programs running alongside the game i.e. for organising raids or whatever it is, but not sure if thats a general thing.

Yeah wow doesnt utilize your GPU much, poorly coded game. When not much is going on the more powerfull computer ya have the more ludicrous FPS ya get like 500 or whatever, but the second ya start fighting raid bosses and everyones casting it all grinds down to nothing. With my CPU 4.6ghz and my gpu at 1300/1900 i get no difference in FPS during the raid to my friend with the same CPU and a 7870 all on stock settings.

If ya playing any other games atm, maybe base your choice on those, physx maybe.
