Hi all,

I’m wondering what to upgrade to maintain a super smooth playing experience.

I have - 4770k @ 4.2
8gb ram
1080ti
HP ZR30W monitor

I don’t really care about FPS above 60 as I always used vsync.

My monitor is an old 30” iPs and is still great but I see some drops below 60fps sometimes with some games. Was looking at upgrading to new cpu/mobo/ram or gpu but then it struck me that I might be better off getting a gsync monitor so that vsync doesn’t matter anymore.

Any advice please?

8GB more RAM second hand and a G-Sync monitor if you have the funds. That would give you a nice difference as games will appear to run more fluidly die to the adaptive sync, I'd recommend a Freesync monitor if you had an AMD card but as you have a 1080ti, G-Sync is your only option.

16GB of RAM is pretty much where it's at for gamers nowadays, you can pick it up easily second hand for 20 or 30 quid. Don't let people get you too paranoid about mixing RAM, you can make it work mostly. This system has 4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RAM, but the original 2 are 1.5v and the two I got second hand are 1.65v, works fine.
