I really know nothing about GPU's...

I have an EVGA GTX460 OC, just thinking of upgrading to maybe GTX 580, or is it better if I buy another GTX460 to pair with my current GPU ?

Just want to be able to play the latest games like BF3...

And is there a for sale section in this forum? Sounds like there is but couldn't find it.

You need more posts and been registered longer to view the members market - theres an entry in the FAQ about requirements.

Is it a 768MB or 1gig 460? I'd say the VRAM on the 768 is a little low to make it worth going SLI with it if it is, but another 1gig card would be a cheap and decent performance upgrade.

I was going to say the most cost effective way would be to buy another 460. Vastly cheaper than getting a 580, even with selling your 460, for very similar performance.

Here is a comparison of 460 SLI performance to a GTX580.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/314?vs=305

But then i noticed your power supply is only 650w which will be a bit low for a 460 SLI setup I think. I'd want 750w if it was my setup.

So then you've got to see which works out cheaper, a 460 + 750w PSU or a 580.

Edit: Actually after looking at that comparison link it shows 460SLI as only pulling 510w on furmark (a power draw bench, will never hit that high in normal use). So i guess a 650w would be fine. See what some others think but if 650w is fine then i definitely suggest just adding another 460. Amazing performance for the price.

The 1gb models are great little cards in sli, got two of the gigabyte ones here, with the windforce dual fan cooler on them. Only had a quick play with them though in my main rig. Still have to source a psu for the system theyre going into. Very quiet and cool running.

I've got this GTX460 and GX650 PSU

I believe it is the 1Gb version. Looks like I will be spending more if I need a new PSU. Will have a mull about upgrading... this new build is only a month old, I wish I spent more in the first place, now I have to spend more...

Thanks to you all who replied, much appreciated!!!

Ive currently got one in the other rig, psu is an enermax infiniti 650w, unfortunately it doesnt have enough modular pcie cables, so the card is using one hard wired pcie cable and molex adapters. Ill try them again in my rig in sig, and take a few readings this time of power use under different scenarios.
