Hi all im currently running a X1800XT and am thinking of upgrading it. Now i dont want to be spending a fortune on one but i would like something a little better. Im not a heavy gamer but play a few like the new C&C 3

As Lolcb says, just pick the cheapest 8800GTS, if you play at high resolutions e.g. 1600*1200 or similar then the 640mb model is probably worthwhile otherwise the 320mb should do you fine.

C&c runs fine on my 6800gs maxed @ 1280x1024, so i doubt u need a new card for that...

8600 comes out in the 17th doesn't it? I would have thought that'd be a good upgrade...
