New GPU Time..

Got the itch to upgrade my gpu, had a 290-TriX, it was DOA (need to remove from sig) so im still running my stock Sapphire 290, fancy changing it to something quieter with equivalent oomph.

I have also 5 x 280x windforce cards that i mined on for a while, they were underclocked and undervolted, and are in decent shape, wondering if 2 or 3 of these will be better than my 290.

Ideally i dont want to spend more than £400

A few 280s in crossfire sound ideal, if you have the PSU & motherboard to support it.

Use what you have 280x wise

Take 3 cards (providing as above you have the PSU for it) and your laughing.

Sell the other 2 and then you can still mine on what you have in your PC when your not using it

Na ive given up on the mining, might go with 3 x 280x in my gaming rig then, i got a Superflower 1000w Platinum in it currently, i think it should handle 3 of those cards.

1000w should be enough give it a go as see how it goes if you do t like it then you can the 280x's and get something else

Im looking at other options, the 290 Vapor-X OC, MSI 290X Lightning and 290X Vapor-X OC, yes the 290x are above what i want to spend ideally but im thinking they should last me a good while.

Then theres the Nvidia offerings, im guessing if im spending money on a top end 290X then i should also consider something from Nvidia?

I would try out the 280X cards in crossfire first before looking at anything else.

Yep, considering your mobo/psu and that you already have the cards, I'd definitely have a bash with trifire 280x first.
