New gpu with old P67A-GD65 Mobo?

I'm looking to upgrade my old HD7950 to one of the current crop of cards, GTX1070 maybe.

Problem is my mobo is getting on now. Anyone know if the MSI P67A-GD65 is compatible with the newer cards? I have the latest bios, which apparently made the GTX900 series cards compatible but the bios dates back to 2013.

Does ocuk offer refunds if hardware simply isn't compatible? Thanks.

I think I have seen users running this board and card on here. I am in the same boat but with an Msi z68-g65 board and I think mine won't run it :/

Thanks, hope they will chime in. Surely the Z68 shouldn't have an issue if the older P67 works.

If these cards dont work I'l have to try my luck with a 970. No way I can replace the motherboard plus ram and cpu just for a gpu upgrade right now and I'm perfectly happy with my 2500K, awesome cpu!

I have the latest Bios from 2013 installed, so I must have put ME8 on too at the time. I do not know how to check. I think some people had to have ME8 to run series 9 cards, so maybe the same for series 10.

My motherboard has UEFI interface, is that what you mean?

That thread you pointed me at indicated it should work with version 25.8 which I have installed...so fingers crossed as I want to buy a card tomorrow :D

Well if it doesn't work I will just have to treat myself to a new CPU/MOBO/RAM too then :D

Could you post either way please. I have the same board and will be ordering a 1070 on Monday, could save me some hassles. I've also just updated BIOS to the latest (last) version, I was running 1.9 that came with the board :o

Similar situation here except my board is the GD53 plus original bios. I was going to get a 390 last summer but got a 1440p monitor instead. My 7950 has been holding up really well at this res but now it's time to get a new gpu. Hoping I don't have to get a new cpu/mobo to boot:/

Sounds like to have the 4.3 version. The latest one on MSI's website. I've got that installed so sounds like great news for us 2500k hold outs :)

Yes it is. I just need a shiny new 1440p monitor now :D

Its nice to run the likes of Doom at insane levels at 1080p. I have now seen it has a 3 digit frame counter :)
