what to do?

at the moment i'm running 2* HD 4870 (512mb) in crossfire on p55 board.

i'm looking for an upgrade for around £300.

all i know 2*HD 4870's nip at the HD 5870. would the 6000 series be worth waiting for?

i've been considering 2*460 GTX (768) or 2*HD 5850

I'd definatly wait a few weeks for the 6000 series, hopefully should be quite an upgrade to the 4870's, as it stands now 300 won't get you much extra performance.

two 460GTX (1gig) will trounce a 480GTX...no brainer really

if you're wanting to stay with ATI then wait until end oct fo new released 6*** series cards

yeah well, well see, i figure my 512 mb Vram as time bomb ready to go off with newer games using more. i think i'll go for the HD 5850 Crssofire if the time comes with the New MOH, i doubt that the new 6000 series won't be money value for quite some time.

BTW: subbytna, did you even read my post?

Am in a similar situation, not sure whether to fork out £150ish for a 460gtx (1gb) or to wait and see what happens with the 6*** series.

Most of the advice I've got is that if you can wait for middle of Oct/Nov to see what happens with the new gpx cards from ATI - I think that's what I'm going to do, but it's your choice :)

Normally I am not one for the waiting game but with the release of the 6000 series only around a couple / few weeks it makes sense imo to hold out for a bit longer.

I did, hence me mentioning the 1gig versions.

with a set of 768MB 460's your Vram is still going to be only 768MB...I suppose it depends on the size of your screen. The 1 gig versions..including the 5850 would be a better bet to future proof you.

Even if you want to Crossfire two 5850s you should wait for the new 6xxx so the price of the 5850s is reduced. I am fairly confident that will happen - I got my 5850 for less than they currently cost and that was nearly a year ago.
