So i might be needing a new GPU as i think my 6950 is dead.

I was considering either a GTX 560Ti 2GB OR GTX 480 1536MB. as they are around the same price range give or take.
choose the 2gb 560 as i have 1920x1080 monitor and would like the extra memory.

Although im im a bit concearned that if i go with the 480 if my psu will handle it,AND what sort of heat the 480s gonna kick out.

my psu is this

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP 600W

- 150 x 160 x 86mm (W x L x H)
- ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V
- up to 86% Efficiency
- Overvoltage/OverPower/Short-Circuit protection
- (.99)Active PFC
- MTBF: 100,000 hours @ 25C
- 1 x 20/24-pin ATX
- 1 x 8-pin CPU
- 1 x 4-pin CPU
- 1 x 6-pin PCI-E
- 1 x 6+2-pin PCI-E
- 4 x Peripheral
- 2 x Floppy
- 6 x SATA

what would you go with? 560 or 480

560Ti 2GB should deliver about the same performance as your past 6950, given that it clocks well. An appropriately oc'ed GTX480 should perform better in most cases, but also uses more power so you have to make sure ur PSU can deliver something like 40A from +12V rail.

I wouldn't recommend GTX570 as it can no longer max out games like Shugon 2 already so definitely slightly less future-proof, unless you have to choose it for less power consumption and less noise from the reference cooler.
