NEW GPU

Im currently moments away from purchasing

My current spec is

Q6600
250 GTS 512MB
OCZ 700w PSU
Foxxconn Mobo

At christmas i will be upgrading to something like

So im just wondering is this GPU a good choice for now and the future.

A nice bundle there, If you do intend on upgrading, why not give the 7850 a look? It will serve you better in the long run. I know it is over budget but maybe wiser?

I only have around a £100 budget for a GPU, i know its not much but its all i can afford. Id like to get something decent to go nicely with a new bundle but im afraid i cannot splash out as much as i would like on a GPU

Fair point Thrust. I looked at the benches for that card and also compared it to the 550TI (same price bracket)

The 6850 beats it quite comfortably, so that would look like a wise buy.

Ahhh yes i was looking at the 550TI once myself, as stupid as i am i used to belive the bigger the number 550/560 etc the better the GPU -_-

That is true, abit of a offtopic question sorry guys. But does anyone know the what time you have to place an order before for DPD next day delivery

Generally the cut off time is said to be 4pm, but I did have experience of not getting it delivered next day if I placed the order very close to 4pm. Best bet would be place your order between now and 2pm the latest, so it would actually give more time for OcUK to process the order instead of risk having them leaving it for next day.

I have another question guys, sorry for all the repeated annoyance. Ok so atm as you know i have a 250 GTS so when i goto install a ATI card how do i go about this (drivers etc)

Given your price constraints the 6850 is excellent and like others said a big step up and will do just fine for the next wee while. We can't all afford top of the range silly money GPUs (me included) so stick to your budget a get a good card in that range, and the 6850 isn't a bad choice.

I just cannot afford a higher priced one at all or i would have gone for a better card, in the near future if i do ever have the spare cash ill happily buy another 6850 for crossfire
