Hello,

I was thinking about buying new graphic card before BF3 is released so I could run it on release day and here I need your help.

My PC is a bit old and I'm not sure if every graphic card will fit in my motherboard.
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5N-D 1.XX ( old ddr2 )

Also I've been told that my psu might not run new graphic card or it could end up badly for my pc and new graphic card.
PSU: CiT 700UB Black Edition
atx12v p4

I was thinking about going for GTX570 or HD6950 especially this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-128-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat= which i can overclock a bit and turn it into 6970 following the guide i found on this forum.

But the thing is that i dont know how to check amps in my actual PSU and i were told that my psu might failed on running one of them graphic card and it could end up badly for my PC. So should i replace my PSU as well? If yes, what psu i should go for?

Thanks

Thought it was only the original reference boards that were flashable to a 6970 or am i wrong?

Thats pretty much true but i think there was a few custom cards that it could be done with. Maybe it was a ref 1 board with a custom cooler slapped on. I dont think any 6950 on the market here can be turned to 6970's any more.

Can you list your pc's full spec? Your pc might be a bottleneck to the cards you mentioned so there would not be much point in wasting your money.

this^^
we need the name of your cpu (processor) and type and amount of ram you have.
Download cpu-z (use google) and all this info will be revealed ;).
Regarding the psu, CIT are a budget brand (being polite) and personally i wouldn't trust one running a high end graphics card.
You can remove the side off the pc case, and there will be a sticker on the side of the psu. that should tell you the specs, like how many amps on the +12v rail etc....
even if you meet the gpu recommended requirements, i very much doubt that psu is any where near 80% effecient.

you really would see an improvement if you could replace the core 2 duo e8400 as well to a quad ;)
my fps went crazy when I went to my quad from a e8400

Ok, so defo im going to replace my PSU. But well, you still dont give me an answer what should i go for.

I'm really confused by now and i dont know what graphic card should i buy.

Ive got budget of £250 to spend on a graphic card so i could whether go for 6950, gtx570 or this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-129-MS&tool=3

But still its only 1gb vram, is it gonna run every game on max resolution, quality etc including my cpu is only core 2 duo e8400?

And kola, cpu will be next thing which i have to replace but i need some time to get some money;)

I think you CPU is going to bottleneck your GPU, I suggest you get a 560GTX for £135, an AMD Phenom II x4 955 and a cheap £35 motherboard, 4GB DDR3 Ram and a Lepa 500w PSU and that should set you in for about £300 and give you high FPS on BF3 on high quality at 1920x1080. Seeing that you already have ddr2 ram just slot it in the DDR2 mobo.

Would make a fine gaming system for BF3

i can afford it but its not compatibile with my motherboard if im right, so many options to go for... do u reckon 560 would run bf3 on full details and on high resolution without problems?

no one really knows
a lot of people on here are in panic about running the game but cant see it being that much more demanding that bc2 it would hurt sales to much if it was
