new graphic card

Unfortunatly its just a P35 mobo :( (Unless its not the one in your sig ;))
The second PCIe slot is limited to x4 and strangles performance of these new cards, So Xfiring two 4850's just isn't worth it...

What res is your monitor/hdtv?

The IP35 IS a crossfire board, BUT as you say its performance will be crippled by the 4x of the second slot. Only X38 and X48 have dual x16 slots for decent xfire performance

Fortunately my MB is an Abit IP35 pro it is crossfire compatible but what I was asking was about graphic cards which single card for about £140 is bang for bucks I did put a link to a card I was looking at and was hopping for some advice.

cheers

Sorry to kinda hijack this thread but if I got a P45 mobo (Asus P5Q Pro) would I be able to run 2 X Powercolor 4870 1GB cards in crossfire?
And if so, will they be running at 8x?

To the OP: What screen/resolution do you have?

I'm sure someone can link to that large xfire test of all the chipsets... But you should have no probs on a P45.

The p45 chipsets use PCI 2.0 which is basically twice the bandwidth of PCI 1.0/1.1. So a PCIe 2 @ 8x is the same as a PCIe 1 @ 16x
