New Graphics Card, 3DMark disaster.....

I just installed direct x 9 again and it improved the score from

3759 to 3985

I have no idea what this means, but I'm guessing its no improvement.

Thats a normal 3Dmark06 score for an unclocked 7900GS - dont think u need to worry :)

hate to tell you but thats almost 1000 marks too low  score for 7900GS at stock should be around 4600, hence i think you have some sort of issue

Ive got a new psu coming from overclockers - should be here in a few hours. I think the 300watts I had in my system was not enough.

I also have 1 gig of crappy ram. Which I will have to upgrade as well. So I'm putting a thread in the memory section about that.

Because your cpu is only a 3Ghz pentium i'd say your scores are actually about right. You have to remember the higher scores are on A64s & the new conroes which do push 06 up a lot. Also having 2 cores can increase 06 by 500 - 1000 points depending on your gfx card

Well maybe the 3D mark is roughly about right. I'm not too sure on this but the crashes in BF2 are definately a good enough reason for the new PSU. If you can, do a fresh install too. Windows XP should be redone every 6 months in my eyes. Especially if you use it for more than movie watching and internet browsing.

Not with a 3ghz single core cpu - as i said its a normal Unclocked score.

Yeah, but it's a D not a single core. And it's underperforming- with a gig of ram at 400mhz and a 2.8ghz 820 in a Dell board (which was rubbish) I got .453 and .677, .48 and .748 at 3ghz. (.556 and .820 at 3.5ghz incidentally). That's 1390 3dmarks at 2.8, 1497 at 3ghz, 1688 at 3.5, faster at every setting than this 3.0.

My 7950GT on stock clocks (565/715) gives me 2242 SM2.0, 2201 SM3.0/HDR... And pretty much 7fps faster on every test.

Your SM2.0 score's only 40 more than my 7600GT did on the Dell board with healthy overclocking. Though the HDR score is a good bit better at least.

(EDIT: Just noticed it's a GS, not a GT, my bad. Might still help for comparison though)

i own a 7900GS (stock clocks 450core 1350 mem) and with an overclocked opteron 146 2.6 3Dmark06 score is 3750
