hello

im looking for advice. on tuesday one way or another i shall be ordering a new gpu to finish my build off as im fed up waiting and it doesnt look like the prices will level out any time soon.

basically i have between £230-£250 for a gpu ( cannot go above £250 in any circumstances )

gaming at 1080p

i noticed the following https://www.overclockers.co.uk/b-gr...6mb-gddr5-pci-express-graphics-bg-001-gx.html

and not sure if thats ok for the money.

i know the zotac 1060 is on special ATM and that will be my first choice if OCUK have them in stock come tuesday morning however im going on the assumption that they will be sold out as there is only a couple left in stock.

prefer to stay as close to current gen as possible

TIA

Have you tried using ************.com to see what the best priced 1060 is?

They have the Gigabyte 1060 6GB for £225, boost clocked at 1.77ghz

That goes to Amazon unfortunately where it's on back order
It's like that with most 1060 6GB cards now

I'm kinda regretting not picking up that £200 card when I saw it a month or so back. I just didn't have the monies then

i was looking for a 4gb card minimum as i was hoping not to upgrade for a couple of years minimum

Your best bet is waiting if you can

I'm running a 6970 at the moment and it's only just getting me by

But the mining craze has artificially bumped prices up.

An AMD 570 4GB which I was considering pre-boom was £160 ish. Now £250+ IF you can find one.

I'd seriously just sit back and wait a few weeks.

ive been waiting for about 5 or 6 weeks now and i have a full pc siting there minus a gpu. dont have a clue if all parts are working or not etc and waiting another 5 or 6 weeks in the hope that prices come back down means i would then be looking at parts being 4 months or before testing them which i dont really want to do.

dont mind if its a B grade item from OCUK as ive had a few items from before that have really been like new

only problem is ram prices are increasing, regardless if Mining dies down, ram prices will keep cards high in price. even @Gibbo stated a rough £20+ bump due to ram prices.

maybe if hundreds of tons of wafers wasn't scrapped in 2016, might of been a different sorry :(
