I've been holding off for 1080ti but as this isn't in sight I've decided to take the plunge and get a 1080 and new monitor. Did briefly consider a Titan X but i'm not convinced it's worth it at the price for 1440p.

I'm currently running a vanilla AMD 290 and using a BenQ XL2420T monitor at 1080p.

I want a new 1440p monitor ideally 27"/28" with G-Sync.

So which 1080 should I get and what monitor should I pair it with?

I've seen someone suggest Zotac Amp Extreme 1080 with Asus Rog 27" suggested in a similar thread. Any advance on this?

Could spend £1400

I'd be curious to see what AMD are bringing out and then maybe consider the Samsung CF791 27" Freesync at £800.

Alternatively I guess your options are the big 34" superwides plus a GTX 1080.

the 34" curved has £899, the 27" ones going to be much cheaper...

My 290 is my 2nd foray in the world of AMD card's. I have been super impressed with the performance of my 290 but I think my heart lies with the green team. My 290 runs hot and can get loud when it's running at full speed. So I think it's time to switch back to a 1080. Plus I can put my 290 in my wife's PC and it will still run everything at 1080p :)

Big 4- Gigabyte , MSI, Asus & EVGA all rocking UK RMA :)

Currently Gigabyte Turbo can be had for the Cheapest in the UK and runs off a G1 motherboard , can slap a waterblock on that and will be the same price of premium priced cards.
MSI been rated one of the Quietest , but ram and VRM is cooled via a mid plate .
Asus Strix as are lovely cards and can have a modded bios to run extra voltage but do come with Asus tax
