New graphics card - Computer shuts down in games.

Would a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter work?
I looked online and there about £4 one person says using that would only give half the power though so it may not work.. or would it be fine and give the whole 20amps?
That way i could use 2 20amp rails for 40 amps overall?

Put one 8 pin in and one 6 pin+2 and then they are on separate rails. Should work fine.

Cant do that...the 2 8 pin connecters are only 6 +2 and the 2 6 pin connecters are 6 only

Thought i would update this... Just got my new PSU the corsair AX860. All installed and no problems at all now. Runs fine..
Even feels like the coil whine has become less too for some reason.. Card goes up to about 72 degrees max on the heaven benchmark.

Glad you have it sorted. 9 times out of 10 if your computer is just shutting off when under load it will be the PSU.

Yeah i had that problem in the past when i had 2 5870 cards in cross and my i7 920. I ended up just getting a new bundle from here lol But then still had the issue when i overclocked my cards too high.
