Getting a shocking FPS in Flight Simulator X on 1280x1024 on medium/low settings. Get around 5 FPS on and around the ground, 15 in the air..

My setup atm is:

4800+
X1900XT
2GB RAM

Would I be better off with a new CPU or upgrading to say an 8800GTX. Don't think I can afford both at the moment.

dont play that game meself but an 8800gtx would be a vast improvement im an fps fan, which are pretty fast games, i use a 640 meg gts 8800. so for your type of game the gtx would be far better, with the type of scenery and enviroments ive seen on flight sims they seem very demanding, id like to get into them myself but im not sure if my rig could cut it

Got SP1 for FSX? Also can I ask what res you run and do you use AA? With the system in my sig I'm getting higher fps than you most of the time and I have most settings on high, which would suggest to me the GTX is the option to go for, but fps does vary wildly depending on where you are - big cities like New York and Tokyo really kill performance, so it's hard to do accurate comparisons.
