Hey all,

Sorry for coming in here and asking for advice on my first post, but I was just wondering about the following! :)

I was thinking of upgrading my PC a little, atm I have a eVGA 256MB 8600GTS graphics card, and I was wondering if it would be worth getting another one of these and SLI'ing them, or just getting one 8800 ?

Any input will be appreciated :D

Thanks

I was just looking at the prices for the 8800's and I was surprised how cheap they were compared to how much I thought that they was... would it be worth SLI'ing two 8800 or shall I get one and wait to get another 8800?

Thanks for your help :)

What res do you game at?, most will say Sli just isnt worth it, only if you are at very high res like 24inch and 30inch screens. One 8800 (preferably the new 512mb GTS) will be very good, Whats your budget?

I have vouchers sitting there on Amazon about £500 (but don't want to spend all of that on card as I'm looking to buy a £200 Samsung 22" widescreen monitor).

I game at 1280x1024 atm... and will game at the max resolution (most likely anyway) with the 22".

Thanks.

So thats 1680x1050 max, a 8800 GTS 512mb (remember these are better than the old 640mb models) would be a good card for that res. They go for just over £200 on ocuk, not sure on amazon though. If not you could save money and get the 8800GT, which is only a fraction less in terms of performance.

Also make sure your Power supply is up to the job.

I have a 550W power supply, will that do the job?

It's a shame that OC don't accept Amazon Vouchers or I would have bought them from here :p

I'm not sure whether that shops counts as a direct competitor to OcUK, its not that well known for selling computer hardware.

Yea but they sell hardware and if they do that and are in the uk thats enough to class them as a competitor unfortunatly.

99% should be fine, ive personally never heard of the brand though. Like my PSU is a 520w corsair, but it could run an ultra and quadcore without breaking a sweat because corsair make them very stable.

The new 8800's dont use too much power anyway.
