New Graphics card issue?

Hey all.

I recently upgraded from an ATI x1950 pro to the Radeon HD 5750.

After I put the new card in the PC when i turn it on it powers up (lights, fans) but nothing else. The USB keyboard and mouse don't start so i assume its not getting to boot.

Could the problem be that the unbranded 500W power supply could be the problem? The card is currently running superbly in another machine :(

any help would be appriciated.

Never ever use an unbranded power supply.

No idea if that's causing the issue, but never ever use one.

this is extremely important, i had a friend build a new rig with top spec. I went round and only found out he had a standard FREE psu he got with the case. I warned him and a few weeks later it went and took the Motherboard with it :(

yep, sounds exactly like a power issue. probably an instability in the 12v rail. Buy a decent one that will last you several upgrades. Antec TruePower New 650W will give you oodles of power to spare and upgrade, Seasonic and Corsair are great too

EDIT- sorry clicked post accidentally.

PSU and case are two things you should really never skimp on, simply because they will (if they're good) outlive your current build many times over. As previous posters said, buy cheap, buy twice

I know that my PSU is quite abit further than nwhat my PC needs, and I like to make sure I have enough juice + also like to make sure its reliable.

Try one of these.

I know its not modular, but Corsair are the most trusted brand I know, mine couldn't be better.

If it's working in another rig then probably a power issue, regardless you should loose the no name PSU.

I bought the 5750 and had an unbranded PSU and my PC took 30 seconds to start, I bought a Corsair 450w PSU and there is no difference I still have the same problem.

Just got a 5770, have a 450w psu (Antec) and guess what, over 30seconds to post, rest of the bootup is fine. With all the same hardware and my old 8800 GTS card there was no such delay, more like 1 or 2 seconds
