New graphics card, no picture.

I just installed a new graphics card and now when I try to boot there's no picture. Not even basic boot/BIOS.

It's not the cable. I can use the integrated graphics on the motherboard okay. I've re-seated the card and there's power to it - the fans are spinning. But I wonder if my power supply isn't enough for it?

The new card is: Sapphire Radeon R9 Nitro 380 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express

I have a 600W PSU and I'm running an i5-3570K 3.40GHz with 16Gb of RAM, 1 SSD, 2 HDDs and a DVD-RW.

I tried unplugging the CD drive, 2 of the hard drives and the fans but I still can't get the card to work.

Advice most welcome.

have you checked that your BIOS is up to date?

some systems need a bios update for new gpus.

would you mind listing the rest of your PC specs please as well.

I have come across this issue myself and I have also helped out someone else on these forums with this similar issue. Bear with me and I will find my old post for you.

:)

What brand is your PSU? If it's a generic, it may not be supplying anywhere near 80% efficiency (480w).

Are the fans spinning up and down as they do when you initially turn a working system on (where they spin up to max and then controlled down)

Do you have any indicator led's on your mobo to signify faults?

Have you also tried connecting the cable to the integrated graphics while the gpu is installed?

Okay, try this.....boot the system without the GFX card(use on board gfx) and go into the BIOS first and set "Other PCI Device ROM Priority" to "Legacy Only."
