If nerw then the BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC 512MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-031-BG). On sale this week for £84.99 (£99.86 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Otherwise a 2nd hand card will get you more performance for that money.

I have got a 9800 128 mb Pro will I notice a big -ish difference changing to BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC 512MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-031-BG) seems a good deal or this one Sapphire X1600 Pro 512MB DDR2 AVIVO TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-120-SP)?!? Similar price.

I do some gaming but mainly photo and video editing.........

Thanks in advance.

Would save the extra for the 7600 GT if I were you, it is quite a bit faster than the 7600 GS for £20 more. Don't bother going near the X1600 cards, they were supposed to be competitive with the 6600 GT (not worth upgrade to one of those) and failed miserably even at that.

7600 GT is around 6800 Ultra / X850 XT speeds which compared to your 9800 Pro, is rather nice :)

i have a X1600XT (replaced by SLI 7600GT) and it was a good card regardless of the reviews saying it was rubbish, played everything well, clocked fair bit over stock, the new X1650 should be better clockers and hopefully ATI will get some better drivers out for them, plus mastercard-less crossfire is appealing considering there <100 notes each, there not bad cards at all and have quite a sophisticated memory interface which is infact 256-bit (128-bit bi-directional) like AMDs hyper-transport

well at the moment all i got is a radeon saphire 9600 128mb or something
Oops sorry, didn't notice it wasn't you that posted that, thread hijack

I say the same I said there to you though, except a 7600 GS would be a nicer boost than it would have been for a 9800 Pro :)

isit as good as the 7600 GS 512mb?
Well the X850PRO will definitely be faster than a 7600GS (which while faster than a 6600GT) is not up to the performance of a 6800GT / 6800GS or the X850PRO.

Im not sure what the two above posters are smoking?

Not sure what you're smoking tbh... The X850Pro scores about 2100 on 3DMark06 and 6200ish on 3DMark05. The 7600GS scores around 3800 on 06 and around 6500 on 05...
