the 8800 is the better card, however the question is how long are you likely to keep the card?

if its a few years i say spend the extra as it could mean not needing to change graphics cards again so soon, however if its just until the next gen come out spend less and get a better next gen card with the money saved now.
 
then get the 8800GT as its the faster card and you should get a longer life out of it unless it dies or they introduce something like a new directX that is not backwards compatible with that card. you may also want to Overclock that CPU a bit to avoid bottlenecking your new graphics card
 
I just noticed the 8800gt is no longer £150 and is £158 which adds almost £20 after shipping so less tempted towards that now. What are the non-oced 8800gts like in comparison to this one?

Whats the XT version like in comparison to the normal version? And would it be better to spend a little bit more and get a 256mb version of the 8800gt? I will be running at 1680x1050
