Currently got a BFG 7800GT OC, has served me very well with my 17" Dell TFT.

For Christmas, my girlfriend has bought me a Dell S2409W 24" widescreen monitor which does 1920x1080 resolution.

So i'm after a new card. I'm not a massive gamer, only HL2 and possibly a few newer games.

Was looking at that ATI 2900 GT that is £30.

Don't really want to spend more than £30 so what about the -

Asus ATI Radeon EAH3450/HTP/512M Vcool Silent 512MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

??

Only want it as a stop gap until i get some money and buy something fantastic.

Thanks,

Andy

All the options you looking at are not as good as your card.

If you want a good little upgrade then you should be looking at a 8800GT ati radeon 4850.

Oh, was told in another thread it would be better as it's DX10 etc...

Don't want to spend over £30 to be honest though :(

Well there isn't a card at that price that will play new games at that resolution. I would keep your card for the moment and save some cash for getting a 4850.

Try looking for a second hand 1900xt-xtx was a good bit faster than your current card and you may be lucky and pick one up for £30. Make sure any new card you get has 512 ram or above as your new resolution will require it.

Isnt that DX9 only thhough?

The 2900GT is faster than the 3450. It should be a boost from what you have, although not somthing that puts you back in your chair. For the £30 pricetag, it's the best you can get.

How about a 3000 series ATI, something like a HD3670 512 or the 4830. It's worth spending a few quid more for something that will at least future proof for a reasonable length of time. Just thought of the 4670, whatever the card I'd get the 512 mb version.

For DX10 @ 1920x1080 you're gonna need more than a 30 quid card tbh!

Just get 2900 on offer or the 1900 someone mentioned.

EDIT- You really need a 4850 minimum I would say, about 110 quid.
