New Graphics Card

Looking to get a new set up soon, my thinking, currently, is along the lines of an I5 750 setup and going to windows 7.

At the moment, however, I can't really decide on a graphics card. I don't play many games on my pc anymore and the games I do play tend to be older driving games. I am only on a 19" 1280x1024 monitor now, but that will be next to be updated after the pc upgrade. The only other thing I would really like to do is run the boinc gpu projects and similar things, like folding, etc.

I'm guessing I shouldnt need to look at anything more than £100. I quite like the idea of the lower power draws of some of the ati cards, especially the 5 series cards. Would something like the 5670 be a noticeable improvement over the 7800gtx I have now (albeit it will be in a new system anyway), or should I try and get a cheap 5750? Or perhaps it's better looking at slightly older gen 4770 or something?

Appreciate any ideas/opinions. And I don't care if it's nvidia or ati, I have absolutely no preference whatsoever.

A 5670 would seem to suit you perfectly, at 1280x1024 it will still have enough grunt to stomp on most games when paired with a decent enough rig. As far as folding goes a few of the more common folding app's like gpu2, etc still need updating to support the full power of the 5xxx series although gpu3 should be out soon.

If I get a new monitor, would the 5670 still be resonable at higher resolutions?

Mind you, after getting a new set up, it could be a while before a new monitor is on the cards :)

Cheers for the info about folding too.
