Looking for a new card, putting together a system will old and new parts.
E6750
PK5C motherboard
2gb ddr2 geil
antec 300 case
antec truepower 650.
I am looking at ATI for the reason that the motherboard supports xfire. Been looking at the HD4770 as the reviews look good, its in my price range (will be buying one initially) and also in xfire will outclass a gtx260.
Any advice would be great.

In the one game were crossfire works probably, when crossfire don't work you may aswell chuck the other card in the bin.

If you're considering the 4770 then look at the 5670, it's an 'updated version' that performs better and draws less power for much the same price.

I'd stick with one of the 5xxx series, you get DX11, lower power usage, lower heat and still in a good price range if you go for the 5770 downward. If you can stretch your budget to a 5770 I'd go for it as when crossfired they perform really well.

I can't see two 4770 being better than a 260.

 A 4770 is very close in performance to a 4850 and 2 4850s are faster than a GTX285.

4770 crossfire would absolutely blow a GTX260 away.

However, I would suggest you go for a 5770 as they're the same performance as a GTX260.
