Hi guys.

I currently have a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 480 "Special Edition" 1536MB GDDR5. Although it maybe a great card. Its not giving me great results with my latest purchase - a Hazro HZ27WC 8-Bit 27" monitor. Now will I see an improvement using 2560x1440 Resolution with a new card? my budget is prob £350. Anyone have any suggestions for a new card? I thought about this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-140-MS while its on special offer.

The 2GB is good for the resolution (though 1.5GB is probably fine too), with regard to GTX480 vs GTX560Ti this seems like a backward step to me- I'm pretty sure the 480 is faster than the 560Ti?

Thats what I thought..Any suggestions on what to aim for then?

Cheapest method I'd say is to get a second GTX480 and run SLI, if you're worried about the VRAM usage I guess a 3GB GTX580 would be great, but it won't give you much performance boost over what you have already.

Track your VRAM usage in game (MSI Afterburner) and check out what its currently using.

Another 480 would obviously give you a good boost although you'll need to have a fairly hefty PSU and a SLi mainboard to implement it.

the original model i bought is no longer stocked by OC. Does it matter if its a different vendor? (Sli noob)

will:

CORSAIR 850W TX SERIES
ASUS® P8P67 PRO (Rev 3)

be enough?

not many people still stock 480s :(

That PSU and mainboard would be fine. As for 480's what about second hand on that popular auction site?

EDIT: What about asking for one in the members market wanted section?
