hi guys ive just bought a saphire 6870 1gb to replace my 5770 after reading a few forumz about psus iam a little worried that my psu wont handle this new card can anyone shed some light on this many thanks

I would have thought you would be ok. I'm running an i5 2500k at 4.2 with an arctic cooling freezer, z68 mobo, 8gb ram @ 1600, 2 Samsung F3 hdds and a 6850 1GB on a 550w PSU

your PSU is more than enough to run a 6870. That card is not really power hungry at all.

Go to here PSU Calculator for a reasonable idea of your power requirements

Corsair's PSU are good to should be fine.

A 6870 uses around 150W so you have plenty of power there don't worry. And as above, Corsair PSUs are great so that's not a problem.

so ive put the card in all runs fine but idle is between 35 and 40 on the gpu and full load is reaching 70s so ive put a fan in the front of the case to try and help but it doesnt seem to of worked does anyone no if these temps are ok or am i heading for disaster thanks again
